Love Rugs

The Lions Club of Ballina are proud to be involved with Youth InSearch. Approximately 28 camps are conducted each year with 60 to 65 people attending each camp. These camps are for young people from secondary schools aged between 12 & 18 years of age.

Wrapped with love camps are for secondary school students who are having problems at home related to family breakdowns.

Such as:
  • Alcohol abuse
  • Sexual abuse
  • Bullying
  • Suicide
  • Grief
  • Domestic violence
The aim is to help them regain self worth & be re-abilitate back into our society.

Ballina Lions support this program called “Wrapped With Love”. Each person attending a camp receives a rug hence the name “Love Rugs”. Our Club supplies the wool to wonderful volunteers in our community, who knit the squares. These squares are then sewn together to make a large rugs for distribution. They are then handed out to all those attending the camps.
